Participatory co-design workshops based on the design thinking methodology – Créathon

Originating from the Luxembourg nation branding approach, these workshops aim to help developing solutions to improve the quality of life and is completely based on a participatory design thinking approach.

Benefits include: Designers usually are not the end-users of a given product, but most engineered products are marketed with little or no user input or involvement. Co-design is a design practice utilizing User Centered Design (UCD) that relies on user input to aid product design before marketing it.

9 co-design principles

Each co-designer (each participant) should take into account the principles of co-design. These are not rules, but guidelines:

  1. Agree how the success of the project will be recognised
  2. Move in, out and beyond your normal design practice
  3. Involve and respect lots of people in ideas generation
  4. Use the expertise of all participants in the process
  5. Let everyone be creative in their own way
  6. Explore and challenge assumptions
  7. Expect to go beyond the average
  8. Consider the time and tempo of the project
  9. Bring the process to the best possible conclusion with the best possible design outcome
